Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst was born and brought up in Birmingham, attending King Edward’s School in the heart of the Edgbaston constituency. His family continue to live within the local area.
He trained in medicine at the University of Nottingham, during which time he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps. His time in the British Army saw him serve both in the UK and overseas. He continues to take a keen interest in all defence and security matters. He is also a passionate advocate for veterans’ care, in particular the impact of military service experience on mental health. He continues to maintain a link with the Service community by providing medical cover for veterans’ battlefield tours.
